The double shooting, which also left a 17-year-old girl wounded, took place in the 100 block of Snow Avenue in Browns Mills, according to Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina and Pemberton Township Police Chief David King A female, The girl is expected to survive, they said Tuesday.
"Preliminary indications are that this incident was not a random shooting," Coffina and King said in a statement.
An investigation began after Pemberton police responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 11:35 p.m. on Monday.
Police found Malachi Treherne, 17, of Pemberton, lying in the doorway of a residence on Snow Avenue, Coffina and King said. Treherne was pronounced dead at the scene, they said.
Police also found a17 year-old girl had been shot in the chest, they said. She was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, where she was in stable condition, Coffina and King said on Tuesday. Her name was not released by authorities.
No arrests had been made.

The investigation is being conducted by detectives from the Pemberton Township Police Department and the Prosecutor’s Office. The lead investigators are Prosecutor’s Office Detective Erica Ridge and Pemberton Township Detective Anthony Luster.
